City of Atascadero Presents Fall First Fridays Downtown, Celebrating Día de los Muertos! Friday, November 1st, 5:30 pm

The City of Atascadero is gearing up for First Friday on November 1st in the Downtown featuring a variety of festivities as we celebrate “Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)” starting at 5:30 pm!

The “Día de los Muertos” theme will set the tone as we offer festive entertainment, as well as a variety of food and drink specials that can be found throughout the Downtown. For starters, the evening will kick off with a special Folkloric dance group, Paso A Pasito Dance Group from Paso Robles at 5:30 pm at Historic City Hall followed by BIG WHEEL COBRA performing a variety of classic rock! Born out of the band Truth About Seafood – BIG WHEEL COBRA is a rock band from the Central Coast of California made up of members of the Spazmatics, Truth About Seafood and Boogie Nights – music that will get you up on your feet!

As you work up an appetite, one of the county’s most popular food trucks, Huatulco Taco. Bring the entire family for face painting along with a sugar skull decorating activity. To add to the festivities, our strolling Mariachi Mexicanisimo band will make their way through the Downtown! PLUS enjoy the A-Town ART HOP brought to you by the A-Town Art Hop Group and the Downtown Business Improvement District. The A-Town ART HOP will feature many artists, along with live music, art exhibits and over 30 businesses participating. In addition, make it a full evening to enjoy the Downtown shops, eateries, drink establishments, and entertainment all within walking distance!

Día de los Muertos will feature an Ofrenda remembrance altar outside the double doors at the front of City Hall facing Sunken Gardens. The public is encouraged to bring a photo of a loved one or a beloved pet that has passed away to remember as part of the Day of the Dead celebration.  The Ofrenda will be set up on October 30th and removed the morning of November 4th. Please plan to pick up your loved one's photos no later than Monday, November 4th. Please no candles at the Ofrenda location. 

Our next Fall First Friday will be on December 6th at 5:30 pm with the annual family-fun activities enjoyed at “Light up the Downtown” and the Atascadero Chamber’s Holiday Sip & Shop! PLUS a special debut of “Garden Lights & Winter Nights” as we light up the entire Sunken Gardens!
